Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Scanimal mobile application ("the App" or "Service") operated by Scanimal ("we", "our", or "us"). By accessing or using Scanimal, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Scanimal. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements.
2. Use of the App
Scanimal is intended for personal, non-commercial use only. You agree not to use the App:
- For any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
- To impersonate another person or submit false information.
- To interfere with or disrupt the proper functioning of the App.
- To copy, reproduce, resell, or misuse any part of the App.
3. Account Registration
You may create an account using your email and password, or by signing in with your Google account (OAuth). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
4. User-Generated Content
You may submit product images, ingredient lists, reviews, comments, or favorite products. By submitting content, you confirm that:
- You have the right to share such content.
- It does not violate the rights of any third party or applicable law.
- You grant Scanimal a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, modify, reproduce, and distribute your submitted content to improve and operate the App.
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or our community standards.
5. AI Analysis and Information Accuracy
Scanimal uses artificial intelligence services (such as OpenAI and Perplexity) to analyze product information. While we strive to provide accurate and useful insights, we do not guarantee 100% accuracy. The determination of vegan status is based on the best-available information and is for informational purposes only. You are responsible for your final product choices and decisions.
6. Intellectual Property
Except for user-generated content, all content, features, and functionality of the App are the exclusive property of Scanimal and its licensors, and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
7. Third-Party Services
Scanimal relies on secure third-party services for certain features, including:
- OpenAI – for image and ingredient analysis ([Privacy Policy](https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy))
- Perplexity API – for product insights ([Privacy Policy](https://www.perplexity.ai/privacy))
- n8n – for workflow automation ([Privacy Policy](https://n8n.io/legal/privacy-policy/))
By using Scanimal, you also agree to comply with the policies of these third-party services.
8. Data Privacy
Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy (https://scanimal.io/privacy-policy). We do not sell your data. You may review, update, or delete your data by contacting us at yuri@scanimal.io.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the App at our sole discretion, without notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in harmful or unauthorized behavior. You may delete your account at any time via the Profile section or by contacting us.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scanimal and its affiliates, directors, employees, or partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including, but not limited to, loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses arising out of or relating to your use or inability to use the App.
11. Disclaimer
Your use of Scanimal is at your own risk. The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without any warranties of any kind, express or implied.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated within the App, and the updated date will be posted at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
